Mind, Body, and Space: Connection in Performance
Course Description:
This course explores the intersection of performance between the mind, body, and spatial elements in performance art. This course investigates how these components intertwine to convey meaning and evoke emotions. Through theoretical discussions, practical exercises, and analysis of significant works, participants gain insight into how performance transcends physical boundaries, engaging with the psychological, emotional, and conceptual aspects of human experience. About the professors

Rio de Janeiro, 1979. Lives and works between Miami and Rio de Janeiro.
For over twenty years she has been working with education and researching the articulation of therapeutic practices and artistic expressions, moving through the roles of child educator, family therapist, psychologist, and mother.
In her studio/therapy office, working with children, adolescents, and families, she develops hybrid processes that intertwine clinical and artistic practices, utilizing multisensory resources to expand realms of expression.

A multidisciplinary artist that works in a variety of media such as performance, video, installation, and both traditional and digital photography. She holds a MFA in Photography and related media from Parsons School of Design in New York, and a BFA in Photography and Digital Media from the University of Houston, where she also pursued an Art History Minor. In addition to her artistic pursuits, Garcia is an educator, having taught at institutions such as Miami International University of Art and Design, Parsons School of Design in New York, the International Center of Photography in New York, and Blaffer Art Museum in Houston, TX.
